About Me

Greetings, I'm Charlie Neville!

I have graduated with a Master of Science in Game Design and Development from Bradley University. I also have graduated with my Bachelor’s degree majoring in Game Design with minors in User Experience and Creative Writing from Bradley University.

Through the years, I have made several games and a number of smaller games and prototypes where I learned numerous essential design knowledge such as mechanic design, user experience, balancing, coding, and much more. I have also made this website you are viewing right now.

From my time at Bradley University, I have completed a number of classes that have taught me many skills. At the top of the list is gaining experience and getting comfortable using Unity. I have learned how to create a game from prototype to finish product, design best practices, and programing while using Unity. I’ve used Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, and Jira in the process of making games. Also, I have experience with Unreal Engine.

I’ve always loved playing video games all my life, but what made me want to create them was my imagination. Since I was young, I have been finding myself imagining my own stories based off the video games I have played. Some questions I’ve asked myself are: What type of game do I want to make? What is the story and where should it take place? Who is the main character and what is their goal? What obstacles stand against them? What decisions would they have to make? The list goes on.

From there I would start building the world and designing the characters. I would design how the characters look and give them unique personality traits and quirks. Then I would think about how the player would progress through the game, the interactions with other characters, and what emotions the experience of the game brings out. I’ve done this several times and I have a lot of fun doing it, so why not try making that my career.

In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, hanging out with my friends, and writing for the most part.
